The 5th Commandment
The 5th Commandment is given in exodus 20: 12 - " Honor thy father and thy mother : that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." This is the 1st commandment with a promise connected to it.
Obedience to this commandment is the basis of all civil government. As the family goes so goes a nation. When the integrity of the family is destroyed, then the cohesion that binds towns, cities and nations begins to decline and disintegrate.
According to Jehovah God the next to him in the line of authority is the Parent. The 1st commandment declares that there is one God - Jehovah. The 2nd commandment forbids the creation of idols, images and other likenesses for worship that takes worship away from the true God. The 3rd commandment forbids the cheapening of God's Presence by the flippant use of his name. The 4th commandment directs God's people to focus on God and rest from their labors for a day, so that they can remember their Creator. The 5th is a command to honor, respect and obey our parents even as we respect and honor our God.
The liberals in America are trying to free children from parental authority. The stupid idea has been promoted that it takes a village to raise a child. Children can be taken to an abortion clinic to have an abortion without parental notification in some states. Liberals are trying to find a child that has been physically corrected by a parent and scream parental abuse.
The truth is that we need to teach the American parents to properly train, correct and teach their children. You take the Hell out of the American home and you will take the Hell off the streets of America.
The concept of God by a child is based on their parents. Poor parenting often turns children away from God. If they do not respect their Mom and Dad, they will not respect their Creator God.
Bill Bennett said that the traditional American family was the first and best department of health, education and welfare.
Children used to feel a responsibility to love and care for their parents in old age. Selfishness and poor parenting has produced a generation of children that feel no responsibility to care for their elderly parents. They feel that the government should bear the responsibility of caring for their parents so that they are not inconvenienced.
To many children feel that their parents should pay their bills so that they can do their own thing. Many children with poor training in the home seek welfare benefits when they are able bodied and capable of working every day.
Mom's and Dad's need to accept their God assigned roles and raise their children properly. Not only will it produce a happy home but it will lead to a family circle in heaven that will not be broken with a member in Hell for eternity.
