In Tribute to Florence Delk
Florence Delk was born in Philadelphia. She was a 2nd generation American. Her family had migrated to America from Germany.
She was the first member of her family to graduate from high school, Lankanau High School. She went on to graduate from Nursing School.
She was married to Vernard. They had 2 daughters, Holly and Hope. They began their spiritual journey in the Lutheran Church but ended in a Pentecostal Church.
Florence worked as a nurse in the Old Delaware Hospital in Bristol, Cherry Hill Hospital and the Bucks County health Department.
She was a proficient knitter, avid reader and very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren.
Florence was a spiritual leader to her entire family. For almost all of her life she served the Lord Jesus Christ. Her favorite Scriptures were Isa. 41:13 and John 14:27. Her favorite hymn was "Because He Lives." She was especially fond of "In The Garden" and "Jesus Never Fails."
Florence Delk joined our church on September 14, 1997. On Sunday, January 28, 2001, we transfer her membership from the Levittown Church of God to HEAVEN.
Florence was a real blessing to our church. She purchased many of the chairs for the sanctuary and the classrooms. She donated the songbooks that we use each week. She sent me many, many encouraging notes, cards and letters.
She will be missed, but not forgotten. We look forward to the day that we shall see her again, just inside the Eastern Gate.
