LESSON 2

                                                       WE ARE STILL HERE

SCRIPTURE:   GENESIS 1: 1-5 & 2: 7-8 & 3

Your Thoughts: What were Gods intentions when He created day and night?

                             Why was the Garden created?

Read Genesis: 1, 2, 3. How do you interpret these passages?

My Thoughts: Let’s try to put ourselves in our Creator’s “shoes “. You get a great idea. You decide to take nothing and make Yourself something that will please You. You take that something that is without form, void and is in complete darkness, then You speak it into existence (Gen.1: 2). This something becomes the environment in which we live in today, the earth. The darkness is split in half by your light and you give us day and night. (Gen.1: 5). Many other wonderful changes occur by you in preparing for your special creation. That is man.

The question that we ask ourselves is why would a spirit being that was here before the beginning of time, with infinite knowledge and love create mortal beings such as us. Its very simple, God wants to share that infinite love with others. He wants to give it out and see it come back. That’s why the Bible says we’re created after His likeness. (Gen.1: 26). He wants to nurture and care for us. Why does a mother and father have that same desire for their children? Our Heavenly Father inherited it in us. That’s why the earth was created and man was put on it to take care of it.

I mention in lesson 1 that God was not fixed on His throne throwing out orders. He is Omnipresent He can be in all places at all times. The Bible mentions that after the fall God was walking in the Garden looking for man (Gen.3: 8). This to me is evidence that God manifested himself as a physical being so that He can commune with us on one to one bases. Jesus came to this earth for the same reasons. I think now we established the extent of Gods love for us and that we are special. According to the Bible, God allowed three circumstances to occur where Gods mercy kept mankind alive. The first one was after Adam and Eve chose to disobey God by taking the forbidden fruit. God spared them and sent them out of the Garden (Gen.3:23). The second event occurred during the great flood. A man named Noah and his family was spared because they were obedient to our Creator (Gen.6). The third and last event was when Jesus Christ was sent on this earth to die and then overcame death by rising from the dead. We are still here. Adam and Eve made the wrong choice, but we are given the chance to make the right choice. When you die do you want to live forever in Gods unfailing love or forever out of Gods unfailing love? Remember God will never leave us or forsake us. Let’s go back to the Garden where it all began. Let him nurture you and care for you, after all we are His children and He is our father.
